Baardskeerdersbos, often shortened to B’bos, is our home in the Western Cape’s Overberg. Come for a village stay with time for art, the garden and a few carefully chosen outings.
Start with the village
Leave the first part of your stay unhurried. Settle into your room, take a walk around the village and get your bearings before heading further afield. The church visible from our garden is part of the village view; it is not the accommodation building.
5 on Church is at 5 Church Street in Baardskeerdersbos. You can choose a private room in the main house or the separate garden cottage. The rooms share the communal lounge, while the cottage has its own kitchenette.
Visiting the Baardskeerdersbos Art Route
The Art Route is an opportunity to visit artists’ studios on selected open weekends. Plan around the organisers’ current programme if art is the main reason for your trip. A studio mentioned in a listing is not necessarily open to visitors every day.
Check participating studios and visiting arrangements before arriving. Keep your afternoon flexible so you can spend time with the work that interests you, rather than trying to fit every stop into one short visit.
Make room for forest and coast
For a two-night visit, one possible rhythm is a village afternoon on arrival, an outing to Platbos Forest or Pearly Beach the next day, and a relaxed final morning. These are separate destinations reached from the village; check the route and allow time to return.
If a marine excursion in Gansbaai is your priority, book that first and build the rest of your weekend around the operator’s meeting time and weather advice. You do not need to squeeze every Overberg attraction into the same day.
